SREE 2023 Conference Updates

The conference is just 14 days away! This year's theme, Embedding Equity for Better Methods, Evidence, and Practice, is about truly embedding equity into our research and practice. Doing so may require expanding our notion of what counts as evidence for decision making. We contend that doing so is the right thing for science and for society. But, if any community can be successful at embedding equity for better methods, evidence, and practice, it’s SREE!

Make sure to check out the preliminary program posted online for the most up-to-date schedule of events.

Registration

There is still time to register for the 2023 Conference! The early registration deadline may have passed but members receive discounted rates for the meeting, and federal and state/local government employees may register for the conference at a reduced rate. A Reflective Journey in Applying QuantCrit When Examining Black STEM Students’ Collaborative Learning Experiences
October 23, 1:00 - 2:00pm ET
Register here

This webinar will cover an introduction into QuantCrit and how researchers can consider applying QuantCrit in their own work. The presentation will use a real-world example of how QuantCrit was applied with Black college students and their experiences with collaborative learning in STEM-based classrooms.

Speaker:
Christen Priddie, Indiana University, Bloomington
Webinar fully funded by the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative

On the Design, Planning and Presentation of Monte Carlo Simulations
November 6, 2:00pm - 4:00pm ET
Register here

This webinar will offer a high-level, conceptual introduction to the use of Monte Carlo simulations in the context of quantitative education research. We will begin by discussing the types of questions that can be investigated using simulations, then offer an overview of the major components and decisions involved in designing a simulation. We will discuss ways of reporting the results of simulations, with an emphasis on visualization. While we generally will avoid discussing the technical details of statistical programming, we will offer pointers to additional resources for learning more about how to program and execute simulations using the R statistical computing environment.

Speakers:
Luke Miratrix, Harvard University
James E. Pustejovsky, University of Wisconsin - Madison
Cost: $50 for Non-Members / $25 for Members / $0 for Students
