SREE 2023 Hedges Lecture
The Treatment of Missing Data in Empirical Studies in Education
Roderick J. Little, Department of Biostatistics, University of Michigan
Thursday, September 28, 6:00pm-7:15pm ET
This year's Hedges Lecture, The Treatment of Missing Data in Empirical Studies in Education, will be presented by Roderick J. Little, Department of Biostatistics, University of Michigan on Thursday, September 28 from 6:00pm - 7:15pm ET.
The lecture will cover a review of methods for handling missing data in empirical studies in education. Roderick J. Little will define missing data, provide a taxonomy of main approaches to analysis, including complete-case and available-case analysis, weighting, maximum likelihood (ML), Bayes, single and multiple imputation (MI), and augmented inverse-probability weighting (AIPW). Assumptions about the missingness mechanism are key to the performance of alternative methods; Little will define missingness mechanisms, which play a key role in the performance of methods. Approaches to robust inference, and to inference when the mechanism is potentially missing not at random, are discussed. There will also be a discussion on recent developments in the treatment of missing data in interventional studies, as evidenced by the International Council for Harmonization E9 Addendum on estimands.
Hedges Lecture Reception Following the lecture, please join us for the Hedges Lecture Reception in the Foyer and Terrace from 7:15pm - 8:15pm.
Conference Registration There is still time to register for #SREE2023!
